Power Lab
Vacation Bible School!
July 7-11, 2008

We are in need of volunteers to head some of the main stations. The following steering positions are still open:

Pre- K5 teacher: This teacher will work with those children entering Kindergarten in the fall. Opening and closing will take place in the classroom but the students will rotate to the various stations.

Missions Director: This person will need to assist in counting the daily offerings in the morning and making sure monies are distributed to the mission projects that are selected.

Decorations: This person will head up decorating various common areas of the church and assist other station leaders in decorating their assigned areas.

Theater Leader: This leader will show a daily DVD for Chadder’s Theater and lead discussions for each group following the clip. Materials are provided.

Nursery: This volunteer will provide child care in the nursery for children under the age of 3 whose parents are working with VBS.

If you are able to fill any of these positions, contact Trina Lieb at 634-0027. In May, we will begin seeking volunteers for crew leaders and support staff. Please keep everyone involved in your prayers as preparations begin.

Jefferson City Cantorum Concert

The Jefferson City Cantorum’s 40th annual Spring concert is Saturday, May 3, at 7 p.m., at the Miller Performing Arts Center. The Cantorum will feature favorite Broadway songs from “West Side Story,” “Carousel,” “Porgy and Bess,” “The Sound of Music,” “Les Miserables,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Lion King,” and “Wicked,” to name a few. So come and enjoy!

Trinity Lutheran School Alumni meeting

Trinity Lutheran School Alumni Association will hold their Annual Meeting Saturday, May 3, at the Double Tree Hotel, 422 Monroe Street (site of old Trinity School). Registration begins at 3:00 p.m., business meeting at 3:30, with awards and speakers, happy hour at 4:30 p.m., and dinner at 5:00 p.m. Registration deadline is April 25. Banquet tickets for adults $20; children 5-12 $10.00. All alumni and those interested in the school are encouraged to attend. Women of Faith

Come and join us for the LWML Spring Rally at Grace Lutheran Church, in Holts Summit. It is this Saturday, April 19th, with registration at 9:00 and the rally beginning at 10:00 a.m. The theme is “In the Shadow of His Wings” based on Psalm 91:4. Wear your RED, WHITE, and BLUE. There will be an ingathering of items that will be going to the District Convention in June. Bring new items, no boxed sets of the following: receiving blankets, baby blankets, baby powder, baby lotion, baby shampoo, baby bath, Q-tips, and disposable diapers, Come for a day of spiritual uplifting!

Faith retirees

Faith Retirees is meeting this Thursday, April 17. Join us at 1 p.m., in the fellowship hall for opening devotion followed by Christian fellowship and games. We have quite a few pinochle players but we need more. We also have our table of dominoes. Come enjoy a couple of hours of Christian fellowship.

Men's softball

Rubber stamp exchange

Are you a rubber stamper? Or do you know someone who is? The Senior Youth are sponsoring a stamp exchange on May 3 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. You bring stamps that you would like to trade and then you choose new stamps of equivalent size and quantity. Also bring project ideas to share. Arrive with your stamps no later than 10:30 and enjoy coffee, tea, and breakfast breads and a chance to view projects and share ideas while we prepare the exchange. Sound like fun? The cost will be $10 and the money will be used for this summer’s workcamp trip.

Wanted: Individuals committed to the ministry of teaching Sunday School for Preschool and Kindergarten classes. After many years of service Kindergarten teachers Jeanie Holt and Lila Pritchett are retiring along with Kim Robbins who has taught our preschoolers. We are in desperate need of 3 or 4 new teachers to start on May 4. Team teaching is great if you would like to be able to share duties with another person. Trinity blood drive

My name is Mallory Bond. I am a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and attended Trinity Lutheran School K-8. I am co-sponsoring the April 20 Community Blood drive with Trinity Lutheran Church and ask that you consider coming out to donate blood.

The Fall of 2002, I was in the 7th grade and so looking forward to being in Mr. G’s class, but I just never felt good. I was tired all the time, I was experiencing heart palpitations and leg cramps on a regular basis. I become pale in color. My grades began to decline and I just had absolutely no energy. As my symptoms continued to worsen, I was taken to the emergency room and diagnosed with anemia. I received 1 unit of blood. Looking for the source, I underwent extensive blood tests. During this time, my symptoms returned and I was again taken to the emergency room, where my hemoglobin was 5 (normal range 12-16). I was immediately transferred to the University of Missouri Hospital where I received 5 more units of blood. I had lost close to 43% of my blood supply. I was finally diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia in February 2003 and have stabilized my condition with medication.

People may not think that donating blood, even once, will make a difference, but it will. If there had been 6 less people that had thought that, I may not have received the immediate transfusions that I needed. Because of my critical need, my family and friends were not able to donate their own blood. It is the gracious donations of those that don’t know us who give us the “gift of life.” I now have become a blood donor and am proud to be co-sponsoring the Community Blood Center drive with Trinity Lutheran Church.

I hope to see each of you come out on April 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the youth room, at Trinity and support those who need us.

Heisinger Bluffs Third Annual Easter Bazaar

Heisinger Bluffs Third Annual Easter Bazaar is Saturday, March 15, from 8:30 a.m. till noon, in the new assisted living area. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. for children ages 3-7 in the courtyard. The bazaar will have Easter baskets of all sizes, homemade baked good, spring items, and seasonal items. Come and enjoy.

Calvary capital campaign

Calvary’s permanent site will be acquired in May, 2008. Calvary needs your support now! I am making a plea for everyone to step up and get involved in this process to make Calvary’s permanent home a reality. There will be a Capital Campaign meeting on Tuesday, March 11, from 7:00-8:30. Saturday men's Bible study

Men, now is a good time to start attending the Saturday Men’s Bible Study. We are starting a new, six-lesson series written by Indianapolis Colts Coach Tony Dungy. The Bible study meets at 8 a.m., on the first and third Saturdays of each month in the multi-purpose room, in the education building.

Easter breakfast

Easter is two weeks away and the Senior High Youth would like to invite everyone to breakfast on Easter morning. The youth and their parents will be serving from 7:00-8:00 a.m. The menu will be a variety of breakfast casseroles, coffee cakes, breads, and drinks. We hope you can join us as part of the celebration of our risen Savior. A free will offering will be collected for this summer’s Workcamp trip.
